You may be unable to participate in a video or audio chat in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard on  PowerPC-based Macs that have an 867Mhz G4 processor. The iChat <b>Video</b> menu may not appear, and under the Connection Doctor's Capabilities tab your computer may be listed as &quot;unable to participate in a video conference&quot; due to bandwidth/network issues.</p>

<p>If you hear an echo, feedback, or "whine" when you speak during a video or audio chat with another Mac OS X 10.5 user, it is possible that iChat's noise cancellation is not fully functioning on the remote side of the conference.</p>

<p>Ask the other participant to try the following steps one at a time while you are still connected. After each step, it may be necessary to speak for a few seconds to test whether or not the change helped.</p>

<p>iChat can communicate with cellular phone systems using SMS (Short Message Service). SMS is a global wireless service for sending messages (up to 160 alphanumeric characters) between mobile subscribers and external systems such as email, paging, and voicemail systems.</p>
<p>With iChat, you can send messages to .Mac and AIM users, as well as cellular phone users. <b>Note</b>: You must be signed in to iChat with a .Mac or AIM account to do this (not Jabber or Bonjour). </p>
