DV format video in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio (16:9) may not be displayed with the correct proportions when viewed in Color. Instead of being displayed as 16:9, Color may display the video with the 4:3 aspect ratio, as in SD fullscreen. Your clips may appear to be "stretched tall" in the Color interface. Note: This is a cosmetic issue; it will have no effect on the color data in your video.

Color: Unable to complete registration

When you open Color (included with Final Cut Studio 2), you may occasionally be presented with a Registration Information window. In this window, you may be unable to select your Country. Consequently, you'll be unable to complete and submit your registration information. Note: Product registration is not required in order to utilize full functionality in Color. Registration is optional.

Color: Video out from Matrox MXO may appear stretched

If you're monitoring video output from Color using the Matrox MXO, your video may be displayed with an incorrect aspect ratio on your video monitor. This can occur when working in a video format that uses non-square pixels, such as HDV or DVCPRO HD. In such cases, the video output may appear to be "squashed" or "stretched wide." This issue only affects the externally-monitored video output; your actual video media is not affected.

Color: Updating two Color FX room presets

The Highlight_Glow and Cold_Hi preset looks in the Color FX bin of the Color FX room were improved in Color 1.0.1. However, the improved looks are not installed by default when you upgrade Color. To force these looks to update, follow the procedure outlined below.

When using the "Still Store" feature to compare between different shots in a project, you may view the referenced stills original upgraded clip in preview instead of the still itself.

Color: Entire speed-adjusted clips may render instead of the requested segments

Attempting to render segments of a non-standard speed clip in Color may result in Color rendering the entire length of the clip instead. Note: Non-standard speed or speed-adjusted clips are clips which have had their speeds altered in Final Cut Pro, either by increasing or decreasing them, so that they are not at the original 100 percent speed point.

Color: Network-based home directories are not supported

Issue or symptom

Color (a part of Final Cut Studio 2) only supports home directories when they are in the default Mac OS X location, which is /Users. Color does not support network-based home directories.

If a home directory resides on the network or outside the default Mac OS X location (the "Users" folder), Color may not start or be fully functional.

Final Cut Studio: Third-party appearance themes may cause issues

Issue

If you have installed third-party appearance modifications or other software designed to supersede the Mac OS X user interface, Final Cut Studio's window contents and other graphic elements may become corrupted or may display artifacts or distortion.

Solution

Disable or remove the third-party appearance modifications if they interfere with the display or functionality of Final Cut Studio applications.
