About Places
Places uses location information to put your photos on the map, from street level to the entire globe. If your digital camera has GPS capability, iPhoto automatically maps your photos using that information. If it doesn’t, you can easily enter the location for single photos or entire Events.
You can add location information to any photo or Event, as simply as typing “San Francisco.” iPhoto matches your entry to its geographic database, and maps the location. If the place you entered is unusual or personal, such as “Mom’s house,” you can enter the street address and iPhoto plots the location of those photos for you in an instant.
After your photos have places attached, iPhoto sorts them by geographic location and plots them on a map. Move your pointer over the red marker pins to show the location tags, and then click the right angle bracket to see the photos taken at that location. Or you can view the location browser to see, for example, all the photos you took in Europe last summer, only those shot during your week in Paris, or just the ones at the Eiffel Tower.
And when you want to share, it’s simple to export your photos so that friends and family can view them on your MobileMe Gallery, Facebook, or Flickr.
