MobileMe Sync Help
Synchronization is the process of updating information (for example, telephone numbers) in multiple places so that each place has the same information. You can use MobileMe to synchronize the information on your Mac, Windows computer, iPhone, iPod touch, and the Contacts and Calendars applications at me.com. MobileMe updates the information so that you always have the latest information available on each computer or device.
You must have a full MobileMe subscription or Family Pack sub-account to synchronize using MobileMe. Because email-only accounts don’t include iDisk, they can’t be used with the MobileMe synchronization service.
-
On a Mac or Windows computer, you can sync your desktop calendar and contact applications with the MobileMe Calendar and Contact applications.
Note: If you’re syncing a Mac with a Windows computer, only contacts and calendars will sync on both computers. For more information about which Windows applications work with MobileMe sync, see the Windows topic in Related Topics below.
-
If you’re using Mac OS X Leopard (version 10.5.4 or later), you can sync your Safari bookmarks, iCal information, Address Book contacts, keychains (passwords), Dashboard widgets, Mac OS X Mail accounts, and more, on multiple Mac OS computers.
-
If you’re using Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later, you can use your MobileMe account to synchronize the same information above except for Dashboard widgets, Dock items, preferences, and notes.
Note: If you’re using Mac OS X v10.4 to 10.4.10, you’ll need to update your software to Mac OS X v10.4.11 before you’ll be able to sync (choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Software Update).
Before you can start syncing your information across computers or devices, you need to enable syncing with MobileMe in MobileMe System Preferences (on a Mac) or the MobileMe Control Panel (on Windows). For instructions, click the Related Topic below.
