You can save a lot of time and effort by automating repetitive tasks. However, creating automations typically requires knowledge of a complex scripting or programming language.

Automator makes creating automations simple. Automator includes hundreds of useful tasks, called “actions.” With its easy-to-use graphical interface, Automator lets you drag the actions you want into a workflow. When you have a useful workflow, you can reuse it whenever you need to do the task again.

You can save the automation as an application, or add it to an application as a service. You can attach workflows to folders so you can run an automation whenever something is added to a drop box folder. You can even set up a function key to run your automation.
