Setting up a Bluetooth Internet connection
If you have Bluetooth installed in your computer, or have an external Bluetooth adapter, and you have a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone and an account with a wireless service provider that supports it, you can use your mobile phone to connect your Mac to the Internet.
First you need to set up a Bluetooth network service in Network preferences.
To set up a Bluetooth network service:
Choose Apple > System Preferences, and then click Network.
Select Bluetooth from the network connection services list.
If Bluetooth is not available, and you’re sure you have Bluetooth installed in your computer (or are using an external Bluetooth module), click Add (+) at the bottom of the services list and choose Bluetooth from the Interface pop-up menu. Give the Bluetooth service a name.
Enter the information your received from your wireless service provider. This information usually includes an access phone number and an account name and password.
Click Advanced and then click Modem. Choose your phone’s manufacturer from the Vendor pop-up menu, and then choose your phone from the Model pop-up menu.
Enter any other information you were given in the DNS, WINS, Proxies, or PPP panes of the Advanced settings. When you’re finished, click OK.
Click Connect.
You need to pair your computer with your mobile phone before using your phone to connect to your service provider. Choose “Set up Bluetooth Device” from the Bluetooth status menu in the menu bar and follow the onscreen instructions in the Bluetooth Setup Assistant to pair with your phone.
