Mac OS X 10.5 Help
Providing FTP access to your computer
You can use your computer’s built-in File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server to provide an alternative way for people to access your computer.
To turn on FTP access:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Sharing.
Select the File Sharing checkbox and then click Options.
Select the “Share files and folders using FTP” checkbox.
Others can access your computer at the FTP address displayed below the checkbox.
While FTP access is allowed, users with accounts on your computer can access files and folders on it using a web browser or FTP client software.
It is important to remember that FTP logins and data transfers are not encrypted.
