If you can’t change your computer’s settings
Some settings in System Preferences must be unlocked before they can be changed.
To unlock System Preferences:
Click a preference.
If the preference pane is locked, a closed-lock icon appears at the bottom-left corner of the preference pane. To unlock the preferences click the lock.
Enter an administrator Name and Password, and then click OK.
If you can’t change the settings in System Preferences, your privileges may prevent you from making these changes.
Talk to the person who administers the computer about changing your privileges.
