Turning on FileVault
Once FileVault is turned on some sharing features are no longer available for security reasons. Log in for Secure Message Block or SMB file sharing and printer sharing will no be allowed.
Warning: Don’t forget your master password or your login password. If both these passwords are forgotten, you will not be able to access your encrypted directory and the contents will be lost.
To turn on FileVault:
To overwrite the data on the hard drive when you empty the trash, select the “Use secure erase” checkbox.
