Mac OS X 10.5 Help
Setting up and using email
Mac OS X includes the Mail application for sending and receiving email, and supports other applications such as Netscape and Eudora.
If you’re experiencing problems with any type of email program, try the following solutions.
Check your Internet connection
If you can’t send or receive email messages, first make sure you are connected to the Internet.
Click the link below to open Network preferences. If you are connected, you’ll see a green dot next to a network or Internet connection.
If you aren’t connected, click “Connecting to the Internet.”

Consult your mail application’s help
If you are using a software application other than Apple’s Mail, consult the help for that application.
If you are using Apple’s Mail application (included in Mac OS X), open Mail and choose Help > Mail Help, and then click Solving Problems.
