Connecting to the Internet using DSL

To set up your DSL connection, you need a few basic pieces of information from your Internet service provider (ISP).

Gather your ISP settings:

  • Your user or account name and password
  • Whether to configure TCP/IP manually or using DHCP
  • Your IP address (manual configuration only)
  • Your DHCP Client ID (for some DHCP configurations)
  • Your Domain Name System (DNS) server address
  • Your account name and password (only if you use PPPoE)

If you don't know where to find this information, call your ISP.

When you have the information, go to the next topic.
