Installing Mac OS 9 software fails

If the installer for a Mac OS 9 application quits without installing the software, be sure that any virus-protection software, such as Norton Antivirus for Macintosh, is turned off in the Classic environment.

To turn off virus-protection software:

  1. Open any Mac OS 9 application.
  2. In the Classic environment, choose Apple menu > Control Panels, then choose the virus-protection software's control panel and turn off the software.
  3. Try to install the application again.

If that doesn't work, the software may not be compatible with your computer. Contact the software's manufacturer for more information.
