Mac OS X 10.4 Help
I can't eject a disc or unmount a volume
You cannot eject a disc or unmount a volume if it's busy. For example, a disk is busy when it's the startup disk or a file on the disk is open.
If a disk, partition, or volume is busy, try quitting applications and closing documents that are stored on the disk.
If a disk has more than one volume (or partition), you can eject the volumes that are not busy. When you eject any of the volumes, all the other volumes on the disk that are not busy are ejected.
Sometimes a message may say that a disk is busy even though there are no open files or applications on the disk. If this happens, wait a few moments and try ejecting the disk again.
