About the Input menu

If you use more than one input method to type on your computer, you can use the Input menu to switch between them. You can set preferences for the Input menu in the Input Menu pane of International preferences.

When you select multiple input methods, you can specify whether you want to always use the same input source in a document, or use multiple input sources.

If you select the "Show Input menu in menu bar" checkbox, the Input menu appears in the upper-right corner of the menu bar. It looks like a flag. Click the Input menu icon to choose the input method you want to use.

You can also use a keyboard shortcut to switch input methods. The keyboard shortcut to select the next input method in the Input menu is Command-Space bar. Since Spotlight also uses this keyboard shortcut, you should change either the Input menu shortcut or the Spotlight shortcut. You can do this in the Keyboard Shortcuts pane of Keyboard & Mouse preferences.
