Mac OS X 10.4 Help
Preventing certain locations from being searched
Use Spotlight's privacy settings to prevent selected folders and disks from being included in Spotlight searches.
To apply privacy settings to a folder or disk:
- Open System Preferences and click Spotlight.
- Click Privacy.
- Drag folders or disks to add them to the Privacy list, or click the Add (+) button to browse for an item.
- To remove an item, select it and click Delete (-).
Adding a location to the Privacy list prevents any application that uses Spotlight from searching there, including Mail and the Finder.
