Using IP over FireWire

You can set up your computer to connect to other computers over FireWire, using the Internet Protocol (IP).

  1. Connect a FireWire cable to the FireWire ports on the computers you want to connect.
  2. Open System Preferences and click Network on the computers you are connecting.
  3. Choose Built-in FireWire from the Show pop-up menu.
  4. Click Apply Now.

By default, IP over Firewire is set up to use DHCP to receive an IP address. Use the Configure IPv4 pop-up menu to set it up to use Manually or other methods of receiving an IP address.
