Printing several pages of a document on a single sheet of paper

If you need to print a long document but want to conserve paper, you can print more than one page on a single sheet of paper.

  1. Open the document you want to print, and choose File > Print.
  2. Choose Layout from the Copies & Pages pop-up menu.
  3. Choose the number of pages to print on each sheet from the "Pages per Sheet" pop-up menu.
  4. Click a Layout Direction button to specify how pages are ordered on the paper (for example, from left to right, right to left, and so on).
  5. Choose the type of border you want to separate the pages from the Border pop-up menu.
  6. If your printer supports two-sided (or duplex) printing, choose an option under Two-Sided.

The graphic shows you how the pages will appear on the paper.

If you know your printer supports two-sided printing but the two-sided printing options aren't available, you need to set up your printer so it displays its special features.

If you use a setting like this frequently, you can save it as a "preset" so you don't have to select it each time you print.
