Turning Bluetooth on and off
Turn Bluetooth off when you're in places where radio communication may be prohibited, such as an airplane or a hospital.
Turn Bluetooth on or off from the Bluetooth status menu in the menu bar.
If the Bluetooth status menu is not available, open Bluetooth Preference and select the "Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar" checkbox.
If you are using an external USB Bluetooth adapter, the Turn Bluetooth Off button may not appear on the Settings pane. If it doesn't, unplug the adapter to turn Bluetooth off.
