Synchronizing your address book across your computers

If you have a .Mac account, you can use .Mac Sync to create identical copies of your address book on all of your Mac OS X computers.

  1. Choose Address Book > Preferences and click General.
  2. Select "Synchronize my contacts with other computers using .Mac."

If you haven't signed in to your .Mac account, you will be prompted to do so.

  3. If .Mac preferences hasn't opened, click the .Mac button.
  4. In .Mac preferences, click Sync and select "Synchronize with .Mac."
  5. Use the pop-up menu to choose how often you want to synchronize your address book among your computers.
  6. Select the Contacts checkbox in the list.

Select the "Show status in menu bar" checkbox to include a Sync menu in your computer's menu bar. The Sync menu includes a Sync Now command, making it easy to synchronize your address book at any time.

NOTE: You must perform this procedure on each computer on which you want to synchronize your address book.

To become a .Mac member, open System Preferences, click .Mac, and click the Learn More button. For more information about .Mac, visit the .Mac website.
