Mac OS X: How to keep network computers secure
If you are responsible for network computers, there are several things you can do to make them more secure.
In Sharing preferences, do not select the options to allow FTP access, remote login, or remote Apple events.
Require all users to log in and require passwords to connect to an AirPort network.
Lock any keychains you use and change your passwords regularly.
