Mac OS X: Allowing applications to access your passwords

An application cannot retrieve a password from your keychain without your permission.

When a message asks you to confirm access to your keychain, click Allow Once to grant access this time only, or click Always Allow to let the application retrieve the password at any time without asking.

If you click Deny, you'll have to provide the password yourself.

To allow access before you are asked, open Keychain Access, select a password, and choose Get Info from the File menu. Choose Access Control from the pop-up menu in the information window and add applications.

Before you choose "Allow access by any application" for an item in your keychain, remember that you're making it easy for a computer virus or other software to read the password.
