How to turn iPod on and off

If iPod is inactive for a period of time, it sleeps to save battery power.

To turn iPod on, press any button. To turn it off, press and hold the Play button.

If iPod doesn't turn on, the Hold switch may be set, or its internal battery may need to be charged.

iPod shuffle
To turn off iPod shuffle, move the switch on the back of iPod shuffle to the off position.
Tip: When iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible.

To start using iPod shuffle, move the switch on the back to either the play in order or the shuffle position. The green stripe will be visible in either position.
