Important: The Indeo Video codecs described in this document are not available for Mac OS X. If you have AVI movies that use Indeo Video codecs, you may watch them using QuickTime Player after starting up your computer in Mac OS 9 and following the instructions in technical document 30506: "QuickTime: "Required Compressor Could Not Be Found" Message". Important Information Intel(R) Indeo(R) Video 5 for Macintosh

QuickTime 3 or 4 Pro Macintosh users wishing to create compressed movies for the Intel(R) Architecture based PC market can now use their Power Macintosh G3 to both compress and play back Intel Indeo(R) Video 5 in QuickTime files. This compressor supports the password protected media keys, and the transparency features of Indeo Video. QuickTime 3 or 4 Pro users can update their installations by dropping a copy of this component into the Mac OS system folder. As with most modern codecs, Indeo Video 5 has a higher processor utilization rate, and requires a modern Power Macintosh to decompress.


Requirements

Any Power Macintosh computer running QuickTime 3 or 4 Pro (Power Macintosh G3 recommended).

Installing the Intel Indeo Video 5

To install Intel Indeo Video 5, follow these steps:

    1. Drag the file named "Indeo(R) Video5" to the System Folder on your hard disk.
    2. Click OK in the dialog box that appears stating that the driver needs to be stored in the Extensions folder.
    3. Restart your computer
