This article describes the type of memory that is compatible with the Power Mac G4 Cube computer.

The three slots on the Power Macintosh G4 Cube logic board accept 32 MB, 64 MB, 128 MB, 256 MB, or 512 MB DIMMs. A maximum of 1.5 GB can be installed. (A maximum of 999 MB can be allocated to an single application in Mac OS 9).

The Power Mac G4 Cube computer is compatible with the following SDRAM DIMMs:
PC-100 SDRAM (35 mm, 3.3 V, unbuffered, 64-bit-wide, 168-pin, running at 100 MHz)
  • 32 MB, 64 MB, or 128 MB DIMMs (64-bit-wide, 64 Mbit technology)
  • 128 MB or 256 MB DIMMs (64-bit-wide, 128 Mbit technology)
  • 512 MB DIMMs (64-bit-wide, 256 Mbit technology)

PC-100 DIMMs from these computers are compatible with the Power Mac G4 Cube computer:
  • Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White)
  • Macintosh Server G3 (Blue and White)
  • Power Mac G4 (PCI Graphics)
  • Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics)
  • Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet)

DIMMs from earlier Macintosh computers are not compatible. Do not use older DIMMs even if they fit into the DIMM slots.

The SDRAM DIMMs can be installed one or more at a time. There are no performance gains when two DIMMs of the same size are installed. Any compatible size DIMM can be installed in any DIMM slot. The combined memory of all installed DIMMs are configured as a contiguous array of memory.
