This document discusses the different optical disc data formats that the iMac (Flat Panel) model computers will read.

Optical disc data formats:

The CD-RW drive supports these formats:
  • CD-ROM (Modes 1 and 2)
  • CD-Audio
  • Photo CD
  • CD-ROM XA (Mode 2, Forms 1 and 2)
  • CD-I (Mode 2, Forms 1 and 2)
  • Video CD
  • CD-R (read and write)
  • CD-RW (read and write)
  • CD-I Ready
  • CD-I Bridge
  • CD-Extra

The DVD/CD-RW Combo drive supports the above formats in addition to the following:
  • DVD-ROM and DVD-Video (4.70 gigabytes (GB), single-sided, single layer; 8.54 GB, single-sided, double-layer; 9.40 GB, double-sided, single-layer; 17.08 GB, double-sided, double-layer)

The SuperDrive supports all of the above formats in addition to the following:
  • DVD-R (read and write)
