Important: The Indeo Video codecs described in this document are not available for Mac OS X. If you have AVI movies that use Indeo Video codecs, you may watch them using QuickTime Player after starting up your computer in Mac OS 9 and following the instructions in technical document 30506: "QuickTime: "Required Compressor Could Not Be Found" Message". For instructions on how to start up your computer in Mac OS 9, see technical document 106667: "How to Switch Between Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X".

Intel® Indeo® Video 3.2 for Macintosh
QuickTime 3 Pro Macintosh users wishing to create compressed movies for the Intel Architecture based PC market can now use their Power Macintosh computers to both compress and play back Intel Indeo Video 3.2 compressed QuickTime files. Indeo Video 3.2 has been popular for a number of years, and this component will allow Macintosh owners to open AVI files containing this compression format and view the contents. QuickTime 3 Pro users can update their installations by dropping a copy of this component into the Mac OS system folder.
Requirements:
Any Power Macintosh computer running QuickTime 3 Pro
Installing the Intel Indeo Video 3.2 Extension:
To install Intel Indeo Video 3.2, follow these steps:
1. Drag the file named "Indeo Video 3" to the System Folder on your hard disk.
2. Click OK in the dialog box that appears stating that the driver needs to be stored in the Extensions folder.
3. Restart your computer
