Read Before You Install AirPort 2.0.4
AirPort 2.0.4 software works with all versions of AirPort cards and base stations. If you are using AirPort 2.0.4 with earlier versions of the Apple AirPort Card and/or Apple AirPort Base Station, your hardware may be upgraded with new features and capabilities including 128 bit encryption.
Note: Earlier versions of the AirPort Base Station (Graphite) cannot be upgraded to 128-bit encryption.
New Features in AirPort 2.0.4
There are many new features in AirPort 2.0.4 that require the Mac OS X version in order to configure. Once a base station has been updated with 2.0.4, Mac OS 9 clients will enjoy a subset of these features including...
- Compatible with Windows clients that use PPTP (Point to Point Tunneling Protocol) or IPSec (without authenticated headers) style VPN (Virtual Private Network).
- The ability to dial into the base station through a standard PPP phone connection, allowing remote access to the base station and the computers on the AirPort wireless and wired network.
- Multiple connections to port mapped services
Note: Only Apple AirPort cards can be upgraded by this utility. For other AirPort compatible wireless cards, contact the manufacturer for their most current updates.
This version of AirPort is compatible with AOL 5.0 in the U.S. only. Simultaneous sharing of an AOL connection requires multiple AOL accounts.
About AirPort 2.0.4
System Requirements
This version of the AirPort software requires Mac OS 9.2.1 or later and one of the following:
· An AirPort-ready computer with an internal AirPort Card
· A PowerBook G3 computer with a Lucent WaveLAN or Orinoco PC Card
Note: There is a separate Mac OS X installer located on the AirPort 2.0.4 CD.
Third-party wireless networking cards
If you have a wireless networking card from another manufacturer in your PowerBook, you can not use the AirPort software (except the AirPort Admin Utility). Use the software that came with your card to access an AirPort network.
Internet service provider (ISP) compatibility
Wireless Internet access requires an AirPort Card, an AirPort Base Station, and Internet access (fees may apply). Some ISPs are not currently compatible with AirPort.

Upgrading to AirPort 2.0.4
There are two steps involved with upgrading to AirPort 2.0.4
1. Upgrade the AirPort software on your computer.
2. Upgrade the software on your AirPort Base Station.
To upgrade the software on a base station that has previously been configured, do the following:
1. Make sure that your computer is connected to the AirPort network created by your AirPort Base Station.
2. Open the AirPort Admin Utility.
3. Select your base station from the list.
4. Click Configure.
A dialog prompts you to upload the new software. After the software has been uploaded, the base station restarts.
Problems installing the AirPort software on Mac OS 9.
If you are unable to install AirPort on your computer, restart your computer with the base set of system extensions and then install the AirPort software by doing the following:
1. Choose Control Panels from the Apple menu and then choose Extensions Manager from the submenu that appears.
2. Choose "Mac OS 9.x Base" from the Selected Set pop-up menu.
3. Click Restart.
4. After the computer restarts, open the Extensions Manager control panel and switch back to your previous settings.
5. Close the Extensions Manager control panel.
6. Try to install the AirPort software again.

Passage à AirPort 2.0.4
Le passage à AirPort 2.0.4 s'effectue en deux étapes :

Actualización a AirPort 2.0.4

Viene visualizzata una finestra di dialogo che richiede di installare il nuovo software. Dopo l'installazione del software, la base viene riavviata.
Problemi durante l'installazione del software AirPort su Mac OS 9.
Se si verificano dei problemi con l'installazione del software AirPort, riavviare il sistema con il set minimo di estensioni e installare il software AirPort seguendo le seguenti istruzioni:
1. Scegliere Pannello di Controllo dal menu Apple e quindi Gestione Estensioni dal sottomenu che appare.
2. Scegliere "Mac OS 9.x Base" dal menu a comparsa "Gruppo Selezionato".
3. Fare clic su "Riavvia".
4. Dopo il riavvio del computer, aprire il controllo Gestione Estensioni e ritornare alle precedenti impostazioni.
5. Chiudere il controllo Gestione Estensioni.
6. Riprovare a installare il software AirPort.

Voordat u AirPort 2.0.4 installeert
De AirPort 2.0.4-programmatuur is compatibel met alle AirPort-kaarten en AirPort-basisstations. Indien u AirPort 2.0.4 in combinatie met een oudere AirPort-kaart en/of een ouder AirPort-basisstation van Apple gebruikt, wordt de apparatuur mogelijk uitgebreid met nieuwe voorzieningen en mogelijkheden, waaronder 128-bits-codering.
Opmerking: eerdere versies van het AirPort-basisstation (Antraciet) kunnen niet worden bijgewerkt naar ondersteuning voor 128-bits-codering.
Nieuw in AirPort 2.0.4
AirPort 2.0.4 bevat een groot aantal nieuwe voorzieningen. Om deze nieuwe voorzieningen te kunnen configureren, is de Mac OS X-versie vereist. Wanneer een basisstation eenmaal is bijgewerkt met versie 2.0.4, beschikken Mac OS 9-clients over een subset van deze voorzieningen, waaronder:
- Compatibiliteit met Window-clients die gebruikmaken van het PPTP- (Point to Point Tunneling Protocol) of IPSec-type (zonder geauthenticeerde headers) VPN (Virtual Private Network).
- De mogelijkheid om in te bellen op het basisstation via een standaard-PPP-telefoonverbinding, waardoor toegang op afstand mogelijk wordt naar het basisstation en de computers in het draadloze AirPort-netwerk en het bekabelde netwerk.
- Meerdere verbindingen naar poortkoppelingsvoorzieningen
Opmerking: alleen AirPort-kaarten van Apple kunnen met dit programma worden bijgewerkt. Neem voor andere met AirPort compatibele netwerkkaarten contact op met de fabrikant voor informatie over de nieuwste updates.
Deze versie van AirPort is alleen compatibel met AOL 5.0 in de Verenigde Staten. Voor gelijktijdig gemeenschappelijk gebruik van een AOL-verbinding zijn meerdere AOL-accounts vereist.
Over AirPort 2.0.4
Systeemvereisten
Voor deze versie van de AirPort-programmatuur is Mac OS 9.2.1 of hoger vereist en een van de volgende configuraties:
· Een voor AirPort geschikte computer met een interne AirPort-kaart
· Een PowerBook G3-computer met een Lucent WaveLAN of Orinoco PC Card
Opmerking: er staat een afzonderlijk Mac OS X-installatieprogramma op de AirPort 2.0.4-cd.
Draadloze netwerkkaarten van andere fabrikanten dan Apple
Als er zich in uw PowerBook een kaart voor draadloos netwerkgebruik van een andere fabrikant bevindt, kunt u de AirPort-programmatuur (met uitzondering van het AirPort-hulpprogramma) niet gebruiken. Gebruik voor toegang tot een AirPort-netwerk in dat geval de programmatuur die bij de kaart is geleverd.
Geschikte Internet-aanbieders
Voor draadloze Internet-toegang is het volgende vereist: een AirPort-kaart, een AirPort-basisstation en toegang tot het Internet (hieraan kunnen kosten verbonden zijn). Sommige Internet-aanbieders zijn momenteel niet compatibel met AirPort.

De AirPort-programmatuur bijwerken naar versie 2.0.4
Het bijwerken naar versie 2.0.4 van de AirPort-programmatuur verloopt in twee stappen:
1. De AirPort-programmatuur op de computer bijwerken.
2. De programmatuur van het AirPort-basisstation bijwerken.
Om de programmatuur van een reeds geconfigureerd basisstation bij te werken, gaat u als volgt te werk:
1. Zorg dat uw computer is verbonden met het AirPort-netwerk dat door het AirPort-basisstation is aangemaakt.
2. Open het AirPort-hulpprogramma.
3. Selecteer uw basisstation in de lijst.
4. Klik op 'Configureer'.
Er verschijnt nu een dialoogvenster waarin u wordt gevraagd de nieuwe programmatuur naar het basisstation te laden. Nadat dit is gebeurd, wordt het basisstation automatisch opnieuw opgestart.
Problemen met het installeren van de AirPort-programmatuur onder Mac OS 9
Als u er niet in slaagt om de AirPort-programmatuur op uw computer te installeren, start u uw computer opnieuw op met de basissysteemextensies en installeert u de AirPort-programmatuur als volgt:
1. Kies 'Regelpanelen' uit het Apple-menu en kies 'Extensiebeheer' uit het submenu.
2. Kies 'Mac OS 9.x basis' uit het venstermenu 'Geselecteerde set'.
3. Klik op 'Herstart'.
4. Open het regelpaneel 'Extensiebeheer' nadat u de computer opnieuw hebt opgestart en selecteer de vorige instellingen in het venstermenu 'Geselecteerde set'.
5. Sluit het regelpaneel 'Extensiebeheer'.
6. Probeer de AirPort-programmatuur opnieuw te installeren.
